Timisoara Tour – a 3 hour walking tour covering the must see attractions. Check out most of them on our local attractions page, here. Most likely, this will happen Tuesday, 4th of July, in the afternoon.

For those of you arriving earlier, you can enjoy Jazz TM (June 30 – July 2), one of the biggest annual musical events in Timisoara. Since 2013, great artists such as Richard Bona, Kurt Elling, David Murray & Macy Gray,Terri Lyne Carrington, Lizz Wright, Al Jarreau, Anoushka Shankar, The Cat Empire, Dianne Reeves, Marcus Miller, Liv Warfield w/ The NPG Hornz, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Jacob Collier, Take 6, Imany, Dhafer Youssef or BADBADNOTGOOD delighted the audience. JAZZ™ 2017 promises to maintain the quality of the artistic representations and to bring on the Timisoara stage actual popular names of the global jazz genre. The 2017 lineup includes Miles Mosley feat. The West Coast Get Down and The Chick Corea Elektric Band. More information regarding Jazz TM, here.

Other social activities include: Welcome reception at the Art Museum on Monday evening, Gala dinner at the Recas Winery on Wednesday evening and the Closing Ceremony on Thursday afternoon, after the conference ends.

Day 1
TIMISOARA – MIERCUREA SIBIULUI  – SIBIU – BIERTAN – SIGHISOARA (~430 km)

Day 1
Meet and greet with the guide
Transfer Timisoara – Miercurea Sibiului. Short stop for a visit.
Transfer to Sibiu, European Cultural Capital in 2007. Pedestrian city tour with the visit of the Large Square, Small Square, Liar’s bridge, City Council Tower.
Transfer to Biertan, see of the evangelical bishops for 300 year, visit of the fortified church.
Next stop – Sighisoara, small fortified city in the heart of Transylvania; visit of the well preserved fortified site: the Stag House, the Clock Tower, the Church on the Hill, the Venetian House, the Covered Stairs.
Sighisoara (Schässburg in German) is one of the most visited cities in Transylvania, and offers an outstanding testimony ofthe local Saxons culture.

Day 2
SIGHISOARA- SASCHIZ – VISCRI – BRAN CASTLE (DRACULA CASTLE) – PREDEAL  (170 km)

Transfer Sighisoara – Saschiz with the visit of the fortified church.
Transfer to Viscri. Situated at 43 km from Sighisoara, Viscri is an oasis of tranquility, where Charles, Prince of Wales owns two traditional houses. The village hosts a spectacular fortified Saxon church, listed in the UNESCO World Heritage.
The tour continues with the visit of Bran Castle, in Bran, known as the Vlad Dracul/Dracula’s Castle. The medieval stronghold perched on rocks high above the valley was built in the XIVth century, in order to protect the peasants and landowners at the border between the two historical provinces: Walachia and Transylvania.
Transfer to Predeal mountain resort.

Day 3
PREDEAL – BUCHAREST  (130 km)

Transfer to Sinaia, visit of Peles Castle, former residence of Romania’s Kings. Built by King Carol I of Romania (born Prince Karl of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen dynasty), as his summer residence, the Peles Castle shelters a huge collection of works of art, rare furnitures, weapons collections, valuable books, and over 2.000 paintings in its 160 rooms. The architects have used an abundance of wooden decorations, outside and inside the castle, combined with stone, bricks and marble, providing a special feeling.
The tour continues with Bucharest
City tour of Bucharest with the visit of the Old Town (attractions in the Lipscani/Historical Centre: Manuc’s Inn, the ruins of the Old Court), Victoriei Boulevard with the Romanian Athenaeum – the capital’s cultural landmark, the former Royal Palace, Cantacuzino Palace, Kretzulescu church.

End of the trip in Bucharest.

You can fly back from Bucharest Otopeni Airport or you can return the next day -Monday- with the bus to Timisoara, for a small fee.

This tour is not suitable for families with children under 7. We strongly recommend to book a private tour in this case. Please note that the time table is subjected to be changed due to heavy city traffic and road works.

Important:

  • This tour can be booked until 5 May 2017. Please express your interest in the tour by 15 April 2017 via email to icalt2017@cm.upt.ro and a response with how to book and pay the tour will follow. The payment will be made directly to the Travel Agency Eximtur, not to the organizers.
  • This tour is not suitable for people with walking (stairs climbing) disabilities. We strongly recommend to book a private tour (with the same itinerary) in this case.
  • During the official holidays and weekends the traffic to the mountain area might be busier than usual so the return could be later than scheduled.
